Privacy Policy

The short version

MockWire is a local macOS app. It runs entirely on your Mac. It has no user accounts, no servers, and no cloud component. Your intercepted traffic, mock data, certificates, and AI-generated content never leave your machine.

What MockWire stores — locally, on your Mac

  • Intercepted traffic & mock routes — captured requests/responses and the mocks you define are kept under ~/Library/Application Support/MockWire. They stay on your device.
  • The Root CA — MockWire generates a private Root Certificate Authority on your machine to decrypt HTTPS you choose to route through it. The private key is stored locally with restricted permissions and is never transmitted anywhere.
  • Local AI model — if you enable on-device mock generation, the model and your prompts are processed locally. No prompt or output is sent to any third party.

The certificate / interception disclosure

MockWire performs a "man-in-the-middle" of HTTPS traffic that you explicitly route through it, using a Root CA you generate and trust on your own machine or Simulators. This is the same mechanism used by developer proxies like Charles and Proxyman. Only traffic you direct through MockWire's proxy is decrypted. You can remove the trusted CA at any time from Keychain Access.

Analytics

MockWire does not include third-party tracking or advertising. If anonymous, opt-in usage metrics are added in a future version, they will be disclosed here and clearly toggleable in the app.

Payments

License purchases are handled by our payment processor (e.g. Gumroad / Lemonsqueezy / Paddle). Your payment details are handled by them under their own privacy policy; MockWire receives only the information needed to issue and validate your license.
